The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences offers a one-year fellowship in Dermatopathology. We interpret over 10,000 skin specimens per year, including cases from the University Hospital, Veterans Administration Hospital, Arkansas Children’s Hospital and outside consultation cases from around the country. We work closely with the Department of Dermatology which allows our fellows to participate in Dermatology clinics and conferences. The Dermatopathology service performs a wide range of special stains, immunohistochemical stains, and molecular techniques, as well as direct immunofluorescence.

The dermatopathology fellow participates in consensus conference, dermatology grand rounds, presents interesting cases to the dermatology trainees, interdepartmental melanoma conference, dermatopathology and dermatology journal clubs, QA meetings and monthly journal club with the community dermatologists. The fellow should have case presentations and original research work prepared to present at the American Society of Dermatopathology annual meeting, and other national conferences as appropriate.

Requirements: Applicants should be board eligible in AP, AP/CP or Dermatology.

Application may be submitted beginning July 1. Deadline is October 31. Typically, applications will be reviewed in August/September and interviews will be conducted during the month of October, so please have your materials submitted well before the technical deadline.
